How he reached here: He was sent to Sneha Bhavan to continue his studies as his family is too poor to support him. At present he is studying in class VI
Small and nondescript , Britto would pass off as a typical boy next door. Though he was eager to start the chat, soon he ran out of steam as his attention drifted towards a pack of boisterous kids in the ground. With a bit of push and pull, he came up with the missing links before he darted off to have a fun filled game session.
He is a good student who scores 'A' grades for most of the subjects. However, he has only simple goals, something which surprised me. ' I prefer to be a tourist bus driver and white collar jobs are not my cup of tea' he admitted. What makes driving a tourist bus so fascinating? I asked. He had a ready made answer to this query. ' Its fun to pick up tourists and to tour all the popular tourist places. Driving a bus is much more thrilling than a car or an auto as it is huge and eye catching. 'I love both sight seeing and driving and this job ensures both these' he beamed.
So, what do you do at your free time? I tried to pick up the threads of conversation. ' I like to play football, basket ball and cricket. Movies are my weakness and I love the frequent outings from here, when we would be taken around the city of Cochin and suburbs'. As we were about to wind up this short banter session, he popped up an interesting query that none of the other kids have done. ' Why do you create our profiles Chechi? He asked with an innate childhood innocence. I was caught in a catch 22 situation as he was too young to grasp the intricacies of the nature of work we do; at the same time I did not want to disappoint him. So, I simply said that 'we do this because we love you all so much'. I could see a shimmer in his eyes that welled up with tears of joy as I clasped his hands reassuringly.
